The new, all-sports 710 ESPN Seattle launched on the air Monday, April 6, 2009. 710 ESPN Seattle is the radio home of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners. We broadcast a lineup of local Seattle-based sports news and sports talk programs, featuring on-air talent Mike Salk, Brock Huard, Kevin Calabro and Dave Grosby. In addition, our programming includes selected nationally syndicated programs from ESPN Radio Network, including "Mike and Mike" and John Clayton. The goal is to make 710 ESPN Seattle the most significant sports station and one of the most dominant radio stations in the Pacific Northwest.
Brock Huard is an integral part of our weekday broadcast lineup. Because he grew up locally, played football for and is a graduate of the University of Washington, and is a former Seattle Seahawks player, along with his current role as an ESPN television announcer and analyst, he offers the ultimate insider view to local and national sports.
Brock's on-air co-host, Mike Salk, comes from the ESPN family and has tremendous knowledge of sports. During his career, Mike has been a talk-show host and reporter with ESPN Radio Network. In his time with ESPN, he teamed with ESPN NFL reporter Michael Smith to host "Countdown to Kickoff," ESPN Radio's NFL pre-game show. In addition, he was a regular contributor to ESPN News and ESPN's "First Take."
Kevin Calabro spent 21 seasons as the radio and television announcer for the Seattle SuperSonics until the franchise moved to Oklahoma City. Kevin currently hosts the play-by-play for the Seahawks preseason games and Washington Husky Pac 10 basketball. During his career, he also has been a play-by-play contributor for TNT, TBS and ESPN Radio broadcasts of the NBA. He was named Washington's "Sportscaster of the Year" in 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association of America.
Dave Grosby known as "The Groz" is one of the Northwest's best-known, most popular and longest tenured sports personalities. 710 ESPN Seattle has put The Groz back in his time honored, midday spot where he spent 16 years as a dominant force in local sports radio.
